Have You Considered....
Ecclesiastes 4:12 says, "And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken." Simply stated, a rope is not hard to break, however, three ropes that are twisted together become very difficult to break. You might consider attemtpting to rip a phone book. If there were only ten people in your city with telephones, that particular phone book would be quite easy to rip. However, if 1,000,000 people in your city have telephones, the phone book would be impossible to rip. Christians need desperately to learn this principle of bonding together.
When Christians stand united against gambling, pornography, or other destructive issues, we have a tremendous voice in standing against Satan. When Christians attempt to stand along, they are like a single cord trying to hold all of the weight by themselves. Christians need other Christians to come along side of them and to become woven into the same threefold cord.
Consider the significance of the Threefold cord. We know that God is represented by the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Family is represented by Father, Mother, and Children. Life is represented by Birth, Growth, and Death. Time is represented as Past, Present, and Future. Space is represented by Height, Width, and Depth. The crosses were represented as Perfection, Repentance and Sin.
An experiment was conducted with two oxen. Each ox pulled 4 tons, therefore they assumed that they could pull 8 tons combined. When they harnessed the Power, the two oxen pulled 22 tons, not 8. So what makes up your threefold cord today? Who is helping you to pull the weight? God has called you into a special threefold cord... Him, You, and the Church. Together, we will not be quickly broken.
